She grew up in Manchester and attended Holy Trinity Primary School, North Manchester High School for Girls and then Oldham Sixth Form College. In college she took up Theatre Studies, Performing Arts and A levels in Media Studies. Marsha then went for a BA in English at the Manchester Metropolitan University.

As a kid, the British actress Marsha Thomason started acting only as a hobby. She joined the Oldham Theatre Workshop at the tender age of twelve after she saw a performance of the musical Bugsy Malone. During her time there, the very young Marsha Thomason took part and performed in many stage plays and theatre productions. Most notable are her performances on Willy Russell’s “Our Day Out” and Aristophanes’ “Peace”. By the age of fourteen, Marsha Thomason was already a professional actor, starring in BBC1’s 'The 8:15 from Manchester'.

Soon after her first TV appearance more offers came her way. In 1994, the still very young Marsha Thomason was cast on BBC's popular series, “Pie in the Sky” as Sally. She then landed a role with award-winning actress Helen Mirren in the award-winning show as well, “Prime Suspect” in 1996. She played Janice Lafferty in “Prime Suspect 5: Errors of Judgment”. She then appeared on “Brazen Hussies”, another TV show which also starred Robert Lindsay and Julie Walters later that same year.

Then in 1998 came the British TV series “Playing the Field”, Marsha Thomason gained a lot of buzz and got the attention of British viewers on her portrayal of the beer guzzling-druggie-soccer player Sharon Pearce during her run in the show. As “Playing the Field” wrapped its first season, Marsha Thomason took on another role where she played a nurse named Jacqui Richards in yet another British TV series entitled “Where the Heart Is”. For three years Marsha Thomason appeared in both shows where she did twenty-two episodes for “Where the Heart Is” from 1999-2000 and thirteen episodes in “Playing the Field” from 1998-2000.

Marsha Thomason then returned to the stage, fulfilling a dream of hers to perform at London’s West End in a play in which she portrayed a fifteen-year old American prostitute from New York with dreams of one day being accepted into a gang of all girls. Her performance was also her professional stage debut. Marsha Thomason and the rest of the cast performed at the Royal Court Theatre and was entitled “Breath Boom”.

In 2001 she starred alongside Martin Lawrence in Black Knight. Marsha played two parts in the medieval-time-travelling comedy Victoria the Chambermaid and Nicole. Across the pond she continued to make more movies, among which was 2003’s Disney movie “The Haunted Mansion” wherein she played Eddie Murphy’s wife, Sara Evers and as Brandy in 2004’s “My Baby Daddy”.

Most American TV viewers’ would probably recognize and remember Marsha Thomason most on the TV series “Las Vegas”. She played Nessa Holt on the NBC show for its first two seasons from 2003-2005.
